The Creatures Down Below
Some giddy xylophone, a fully-formed barbershop moment and a lush typewriter intro that'll have you harping after your old Remington (no? Just me?) - Dear God, that's a lot of quirk crammed into one song! Still, in the context of what may well be a zoologically-inspired concept EP, it works, even if 'The Creatures Down Below' is a little heavy on the bells and whistles. When it's executed with such barefaced cheek, it's hard not to fall for The Gorgeous Colours' charm.
