The Cravats headline first John Peel Favourites gig
The lovely people from FOAD Music (we'll let you work out what the acronym stands for!) are staging a John Peel Favourites Gigs Series featuring acts that the late lamented BBC Radio One DJ championed on his late night shows.
Part 1 takes place in March when The Cravats are joined by hometown heroes Paranoid Visions and young upstarts I Am A Car Crash for a show in Fibber Magee's, Dublin (27) and a second show in Belfast (28).
Formed in 1977, The Cravats recorded four Peel sessions, which John always said were among his favourites. Their debut The Cravats In Toytown album was re-released recently and has very much stood the test of time.
Paranoid Visions have a new 7" single, 'Two Black Eyes', out now.
Their mate TV Smith, he of The Adverts fame, plays an electric set in Fibbers on January 9 with current band Bored Teenagers. A full-blown '70s nostalgia trip, expect to hear classics like 'One Chord Wonders' and the still evergreen 'Gary Gilmore's Eyes'.
