The Black Keys announce 14th album Peaches!, release new single
The announcement comes less than six months after the release of their previous album No Rain, No Flowers
The Black Keys have announced their 14th album, Peaches!, out on May 1, and released a new single ‘You Got To Lose’.
The announcement and release come less than six months after the duo’s release of their last album, No Rain, No Flowers.
Peaches! was created after singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach’s father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and moved in with Auerbach.
“We weren’t making a record,” said Auerbach. “We were just jamming, like this is for us. Really primal, in a moment when all the nerves were raw, just kinda screaming. We were going through a lot, trying to lift our spirits. I think my dad getting sick made me not give a fuck and just wanna scream for a bit.”
‘You Got To Lose’, an Earl Hooker cover, stems from the band’s ‘record hangs’, where Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney take turns spinning rare vinyl.
"I’d look for 45s specifically to play at the record hangs, but sometimes I’d find a song and think, 'This might be fun for Pat and me to play live,’” said Auerbach. The accompanying music video for the song centers around a live performance of the song.
‘You Got To Lose’ is out now, and Peaches! is out on May 1.
