The Beach Boys announce Belfast show marking 60 years of Pet Sounds
Tickets will go on sale Friday, November 28 at 10am.
The Beach Boys have announced a show at Custom House Square, Belfast, on June 21, 2026, marking 60 years of their landmark 1966 album, Pet Sounds.
Originally released in May 1966, Pet Sounds peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart.
Speaking to Hot Press last year, documentary director Thom Zimny described the album’s impact as a turning point in pop history.
“I just think the beauty of Pet Sounds is that it challenged the idea of what the pop song can be,” he said. “It created a new sonic landscape. Music changed at that point.”
Founding member Al Jardine recalled the studio process behind those harmonies, noting that Brian Wilson would assign each vocal part “note by note,” requiring absolute precision.
Original member Brian Wilson passed away earlier this year at age 82. Wilson, the primary creative force behind Pet Sounds, co-founded The Beach Boys in 1961 and wrote or co-wrote many of their most widely recognised works, including ‘Good Vibrations’, ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’, and ‘God Only Knows’.
The current touring lineup is led by founding member Mike Love, joined by Grammy-winner Bruce Johnston, who first entered the band in 1965. The present group also includes Christian Love, Brian Eichenberger, Tim Bonhomme, Jon Bolton, Keith Hubacher, Randy Leago, and John Wedemeyer.
In the same 2024 interview, Mike Love said the band’s longevity is tied to the enduring appeal of the catalogue: “We aren’t immortal, but the music is.”
Tickets for The Beach Boys’ show at Custom House Square will go on sale Friday, November 28 at 10am.
