The Attic
While some critics have drawn parallels between Paul Weller’s latest chef-d’oeuvre, Sonik Kicks, and the revolutionary sound of bands like Blur and Oasis, to me, ‘The Attic’ is pure Style Council grandeur, albeit beefed up with a rhythmic rock melody. Of course, the Gallagher presence on this track is unshakable (Noel is even responsible for some of the riffs), but factor in the swooning strings and some seriously soulful vocals and it becomes a delightfully danceable pop rock mongrel with just the right touch of sonik glamour.
