The intellectual indie beat junkies uberlords return with what is, apparently, their last release. Say it ain’t so, because this album is a proper treasure. Those unfamilliar with clouddead’s output will find this in the ‘hip-hop’ section in their record stores, but that’s only half the story. The wildly innovative (and decidedly odd) music simply serves as a platform for the trio’s ‘raps’ – though putting them in the same vague category as someone like Ja Rule is just plain wrong. This is a form of ultra-modern beat poetry – in both senses of the phrase. What does it sound like? Er, They Might Be Giants getting it on with Boards Of Canada, carrying an Tr-808 and wearing a backpack and the correct Adidas shelltoes.Jaw-dropping.
