Taylor Swift announces new song for Toy Story 5 Soundtrack

Taylor Swift has announced her new song, ‘I Knew It, I Knew You, which will be featured on the official soundtrack for Toy Story 5, set for release on June 19. The song itself will be available to stream from June 5.

Swift wrote and produced the track alongside longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, who previously worked with her on albums including Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department.

“I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters, who I’ve adored since I was a five-year-old kid watching the first Toy Story movie", the singer-songwriter wrote on social media.

“I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?”

The song has been teased for several weeks through billboards and a Toy Story-themed countdown on Swift’s website.

Toy Story 5 arrives more than 30 years after the original film, which received several Oscar nominations, including Best Original Song for ‘You've Got a Friend in Me’. The upcoming instalment will see the return of familiar voices such as Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, while also introducing new cast members, including Conan O’Brien and Bad Bunny.

The release marks Swift’s first new music since her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which was released at the end of last year. The album featured the lead single ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, which reached number one in dozens of countries, including Ireland.
