Synth You've Been Gone

Brought me back alright, back to what felt like an old school disco. Gone were the flash Miami Vice style suits that were synonymous with Le Bon & Co and in came the dressed down casual, yet young and funky look, by which I mean baggy pants and trainers. But this isn’t a fashion review...
If the response Duran Duran received at their sold out Point show is anything to go by, a full blown ’80s revival seems a likely scenario. Hits like ‘Hungry Like A Wolf’, ‘The Union Of The Snake’ and ‘Planet Earth’ all still qualify as catchy synth-pop classics.
Believe it or not the boys who many a young girl lusted over (and some continue to do so...) have never played here before, so for most of tonight’s jam packed audience this has been the best part of 15 years in the making.
However, new tracks ‘What Happens Tomorrow’ and ‘Beautiful Colours’ are delivered to a lukewarm reception, and it’s not very difficult to sense that the crowd are waiting for the next hit. Unsurprisingly then, ‘Ordinary World’ is greeted with yelps of delight, whilst ‘Notorious’ and ‘Reflex’ build the crowd to fever pitch by the time ‘Wild Boys’ is belted out before the highlight of the evening, an encore of ‘Girls On Film’ replete with camera flashes and shutter click sound effects, followed by ‘Bom Dia’ and ‘Rio’.
