Still Night, Still Light
Snoozy delights from the polyphonic twee whose outright nerdiness is charming
Taking their cues from the likes of Slumber Party, April March and countless other acts from the hey-day of Kill Rock Stars Records, Au Revoir Simone produce a nice line in electronic pop. The songs themselves are twee to the core ('Knight Of Wands', 'Only You Can Make Me Happy') but it's not off putting in the slightest. In fact their outright nerdiness (their band moniker is a quote from the Tim Burton film Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure) is charming and the simple yet catchy melodies of 'Shadows' and 'Trace A Line' are irresistible. With the right kind of radio support, Still Night, Still Light could be the album that helps them break into the big leagues.
Key Track: 'All Or Nothing'
