Starstrukk (live session)
Just when you think it couldn't get any weirder than N-Dubz covering The Script on the Beeb's Live Lounge, Marina Diamandis is making over crunkcore kids 3Oh!3 with a lick of string quartet. The original 'Starstrukk' (should the spelling be insufficient warning) was a sleazy tale of power perving delivered at breakneck speed by the 3Oh!3 fellas and annoying cohort Katy Perry. While Ms. Diamandis' baritone can be just as grating, the feisty 24-year-old has got it really right on this one, transforming the tune into a gut-wrenching ballad with a flash of Kate Bush genius sorely missing from debut album The Family Jewels. Who'd have thunk the words "Tight jeans, Double D's, makes the man go whoo! whoo!" could be so heartbreaking?
