Spitfire
Eureka! Something different! Well, sort of… It was only a matter of time before some Lana Del Rey-inspired soul act took the idea of putting retro footage to brand spanking new pop music one step further by actually incorporating retro audio into their tunes. ‘Spitfire’ by Krautrock-driven duo Public Service Broadcasting layers samples of 1942 film The First Of The Few over a fizzing electronic background, while the video is comprised of snippets from the film, which tells the tale of the creation of the iconic fighter plane. The result is a feast for the eyes and ears: you get killer loops, Leslie Howard and a history lesson, all for the price of four minutes of your time. Bargain.
