Snoop Dogg to be played by Outer Banks actor in upcoming biopic

Universal Pictures is working on a Snoop Dogg biopic, with actor Jonathan Daviss landing the role of the famous rapper.

The film will focus on Snoop Dogg's life and career and has been in the works for quite a while.

In 2022, a biopic about the California rapper was announced, with Allen Hughes as director. However, the project appeared to have come to a standstill, with no news about the movie until last week, when Universal Pictures confirmed the biopic was still happening.

Deadline reported that director Craig Brewer was taking over, reworking some of the original script from 2022.

The Footlose director has cast Jonathan Daviss as the iconic rapper. Daviss is best known for his role in the Netflix drama series Outer Banks, where he stars as Pope Heyward.

After the casting was publicly announced, Snoop Dogg took to Instagram to congratulate the 25-year-old actor.

According to Deadline, Snoop Dogg will be producing the film alongside Brian Grazer and Sara Ramaker.
