"Smooth grooves to soothe the soul and a whole lotta love for your ears"
Hannah Hamilton previews tonight's No Disco and is relieved (but unsurprised) to find all kinds of goodies
If, like me, you have been subjected to a barrage of particularly dire music this weekend, [and something tells me we have not heard the last of this - ed] you'll be chipper to hear that tonight's instalment of the wondrous No Disco (Network 2, 11:40pm) is on hand with smooth grooves to soothe the soul and a whole lotta love for your ears.
The tops of the evening, so to speak, are like so:
Cat in the hat Mr Damon Gough - Badly Drawn Boy to you - instructs Leagues on the finer points of fish gastronomics. The video for Mic Christopher's 'Skylarkin'', the title track of his debut LP, enjoys its second-ever airing - the first being at the album's launch gig in Dublin last week. We get the facts on the nationwide tour by The Last Post, The Chalets and Neosupervital; we hear newies from David Kitt, The Black Heart Procession, Apples in Stereo and Lemon Jelly, and we get the chance to win a copy of Pulp's Hits compilation. Yet another newie - from Ambulance, with visuals from DEAF by Pixelcorps - rounds it all up.
No Disco-pops: mmmm... chocolatey.
