Skin flick
SKINDIVE ARE ON their way to Hollywood courtesy of legendary producer Jack Douglas and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry
“I used to work with Aerosmith in the ‘80s, so when I heard that Jack and Joe were putting together the soundtrack for the new James Caan movie, I naturally enough said, ‘Hey, I’ve got a band for you!’” explains Skindive’s European manager, Denis Marcotte. “Anyway, Jack gets back to me a couple of days later, totally blown-away and wanting to know if he can pick out a couple of songs. The answer, naturally enough, was ‘yes’.”
While no guarantee of Stateside success, Marcotte reckons that it’ll definitely help as a calling card.
“Anything that gets your name recognised in this industry is a plus. Not only that, but with (mainman) Gerry Owens being a self-confessed soundtrack nut, it’s an obvious direction for them to go in. Reviewers keep on saying that there’s a ‘cinematic’ quality to Skindive’s music – well, they’re right!”
In the meantime, the Stephen Robinson-endorsed quartet visit The Point, Dublin (September 5th + Marilyn Manson); Temple Bar Music Centre, Dublin (13th); Lobby, Cork (15th); Limelight, Belfast (19th); Dolan’s, Limerick (20th); and Cuba, Galway (27th).
