Shuffle
It starts with some saloon piano, straight out of the Wild West, before Jack Steadman’s distinctly 21st century croon kicks in, shot-putting us back to earth. But somehow, this totally arresting spot of ear-stroking isn’t even the oddest thing about the first single from Bombay Bicycle Club’s forthcoming third album A Different Kind Of Fix. The most puzzling thing you’ll find within these three minutes, is instant confirmation that the other BBC can do pretty much anything they set their lovely minds to (jerky indie, delicate acoustic and now, clever piano loopery). This, and what can only be described as a hopelessly infectious groove, makes the appropriately-titled ‘Shuffle’ a remarkable track.
