Settle Down
As No Doubt’s first release in over a decade, ‘Settle Down’ was always going to be big news, but while this sunny, reggae-infused street party jam is nowhere near as colossal as the stuff on the last album, your ‘Hella Good’s and your ‘Hey Baby’s, for example, it’s still fresh and fierce enough to recall the band’s better moments. Once you get over how youthful and peppy 42-year-old Gwen Stefani sounds, not to mention how youthful and peppy she looks in the video, it’s an extremely palatable comeback, and one that narrowly avoids sounding like anything else in the charts.
