Serotonin
MESMERISING, LOVE-LORN, TEAR-SOAKED MAGICAL MYSTERY-JET TOUR
Just when you thought his poor wee heart couldn't break any more, Mystery Jets frontman and main songwriter Blaine Harrison goes and proves that he's still as love-lorn as ever on his band's third record. And while some readers may balk at track titles like 'The Girl Is Gone' and 'Too Late To Talk', don't be put off by the tear-soaked lyrics, as the tunes are a mesmerizing mix of The Cure at their most joyous and ELO at their most vital.
Serotonin is a thrilling affair from start to finish. Wisely cutting down on the excesses of their previous LP, their third effort is all about the songs and the likes of 'Dreaming Of Another World' and the kazoo-laden 'Flash A Hungry Smile' show that, while Blaine may be as unlucky in love as ever, he still hits the jackpot when it comes to writing a tune.
