Sensual
Bug has retained the machine funk that marks him out as a key player in Germany’s minimal scene, but this time around, has also brought more musical influences to bear
German producer Steve Bug has always produced fine dance floor EPs, but, until now, has failed to give full vent to his stripped down arrangements over the course of an album. However, the German producer strikes it lucky on this, his third album: Bug has retained the machine funk that marks him out as a key player in Germany’s minimal scene, but this time around, has also brought more musical influences to bear. It’s evident on ‘Pleasure Park’ and ‘Shake The Funk’ where heavy bass elements and deep chords make for emotive dance floor tracks, on the vocal led ‘All I Need’ and on the dark, haunting and hypnotic ‘Criminal Investigation’. It sounds like Bug has looked into the heart of his machines and emerged with the first great minimal house album.
