This is a frankly joyous ride through house music and so much more.
Jerome Sydenham and Kerri Chandler deliver an album the words ‘hotly’ and ‘anticipated’ were made for. If you’re a discerning deep house head that is. K and J are two big cheeses in the world of ‘real’ house – and this nine track journey ain’t gonna do nothing to change that. Borrowing heavily from world beat, jazz funk, jazz and all things Afro and using live instruments and vocals instead of 100% samples, this is a frankly joyous ride through house music and so much more. Standouts are hard to choose, ‘cos everyone’s a winner, but it’s worth the admission price alone for the Nina Simone-sampling ‘See Line Woman’. In a world of pedestrian house albums, this original, emotional, musical work could well be a future classic.
