Royal Blood on rubbing shoulders with Lars Ulrich

It’s been a whirlwind twelve months for Royal Blood, going from relative obscurity to bona fide superstars. The journey has earned the band admirers the world over – some more famous than others.
“Our dressing room has turned into the apartment from Friends,” laughs Mike Kerr. “You never know who is going to show up. Lars Ulrich was a real surprise. I mean, he has two legs and two arms; he’s a regular guy. And really good company.”
The band were last seen on these shores in The Academy, and will return for two shows in The Olympia in 2015. It’s part of the band’s efforts to enjoy the experience of playing smaller venues, despite their massive success.
“We could have upgraded by now,” says Mike. “We want people to have the chance to see us in venues that are relatively intimate. We’ve never done a tour at this level. Why would we want to miss out on that?”
