Rocstrong and Gavin James wow at The Big Break Live
Two awesome sets last night in beautifully intimate Dublin venue The Odessa Club.
"Everyone thinks this is a glamorous business," an enthusiastic Niall Stokes declared to a packed-out Odessa Club in Dublin last night. However, as the Hot Press editor admits, whittling down the thousands of entries to find the eventual winner of The Big Break 2014, in association with ALCATEL ONE TOUCH, was anything but.
The upside to those long nights spent in Hot Press HQ is having the pleasure of witnessing firsthand just how much musical talent is out there in this wonderful country of ours.
Two of the brightest talents treated lucky competition winners in attendance at The Odessa Club to a night to remember.
Gavin James – local lad, the big man with the beautiful voice - wowed the crowd with his stunning vocals and guitar work before it was over to the victor, Rocstrong, whose raunchy, razor-sharp take on funk, rock and soul showed us all exactly why the judges were so taken with his tunes.
"This is the biggest thing to happen in my music career to date," enthused the stylish frontman before being presented with his framed Hot Press cover and ALCATEL goodies.
The first of many more we hope!
Thanks to all who came, another great night all round.
