Robyn announces new album Sexistential and shares two singles
The new record is due out on March 27 via Young.
Robyn has announced the release of her ninth studio album Sexistential for March 27 via Young.
The announcement is accompanied by the release of the two new tracks ‘Talk To Me’ and ‘Sexistential’, which follow the release of her acclaimed first single ‘Dopamine’ in November.
Speaking about ‘Talk To Me’, the singer explained: “I wrote it during the pandemic when there was no way to be physical. I like talkers, that turns me on.”
Check out the music video for ‘Talk To Me’, directed by Casper Sejersen, below:
Described in a statement as “emphatic and punchy, defiant about both emotional and biological pleasure,” Sexistential was co-produced mainly with longtime collaborator Klas Åhlund.
“Exploring my sensual life is the same feeling as when I make a good song,” Robyn says of the record’s title. “It’s such a beautiful kind of sensitive vibration that takes so much work to keep afloat. I feel like the purpose of my life is to stay horny - it doesn’t even have to be about sex, but it’s feeling sensual and attracted to things that I enjoy, and not letting anything take over that.”
Title track ‘Sexistential’, released today, is a rap talking about having one-night stands while 10 weeks pregnant after IVF, conceived as a riposte to Andre 3000 saying no one would want to hear him rap about his colonoscopy. To celebrate its release, Robyn will perform the tune tonight on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
You can pre-order Sexistential here.
