THERE’S MORE GOOD news for jumping jive fans with the ESB Autumn Jazz Series bringing four more top acts to Vicar St. Kicking things off on September 8th is Lee Konitz with the Antonio Farao Trio.
Now in his ‘70s, Konitz was one of the featured players on Miles Davis’ The Birth Of The Cool, and has also collaborated with the likes of Gil Evans, Charlie Mingus and Elvin Jones.
Puccini, Stevie Wonder, Schumann and The Four Tops are all on the menu on October 18th when the Don Byron Quintet open their Irish account. Also visiting the aul’ sod for the first time on November 11th is African-American fusionist Abdullah Ibrahim. A constant in the jazz world for over 40 years, his CV includes stints with Duke Ellington, John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman.
Bringing things to a rousing climax on November 25th is Nils Petter Molvaer, the Norwegian trumpeter who’s been sampled by everyone from Bill Laswell to Moloko.
Season tickets for the Jazz Series are on sale now priced £65.
