Recipients of traditional Irish music awards Gradam Ceoil TG4 2026 announced

The recipients of the Gradam Ceoil TG4 2026 award were officially announced at a special event in the Armada Hotel in Spanish Point yesterday. The event took place during Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy, a festival celebrating traditional Irish music, song and dance.

Gradam Ceoil TG4, now in its 29^th year, is an award that celebrates “outstanding achievement, creativity and cultural impact across seven award categories.” The awardees range from musicians and singers to composers, young performers, ensembles and others who have made exceptional contributions.

This year's recipients are:

Gradam Ceoil TG4 2026 / Musician – Cathal Hayden
Amhránaí TG4 2026 / Singer – Pauline Scanlon
Gradam Saoil TG4 2026 / Lifetime Achievement – Mickey Dunne
Grúpa Ceoil TG4 2026 / Music Group – Cherish The Ladies
Ceoltóir Óg TG4 2026 / Young Musician – Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta
Cumadóir TG4 2026 / Composer – Niall Vallely
Gradam Comaoine TG4 2026 / Outstanding Contribution – The Tulla Céilí Band

These musicians, composers and contributors were selected by an independent panel of previous recipients and leading figures in the traditional music community.

Recipients will receive a specially commissioned piece by sculptor John Coll as well as a small stipend.

“TG4 is proud to champion the artists, communities and traditional styles that continue to enrich our lives and strengthen our sense of identity,” said Deirdre Ní Choistín, the general director of TG4, on Tuesday.

The concert and awards ceremony will take place at the University Concert Hall, Limerick on Sunday, September 13, with recipients joined by special music guests and presenters. The event will also be broadcast live on TG4.
