Rare & Unpublished Ramones Pics In New PhotoBook
The punk legend's first manager has a treasure chest of images from the band's early days
The Ramones' first manager Danny Fields, is publishing a unique phonebook of previously unseen and rare photographs.
My Ramones document's the punk icons' early days. The never before-seen collection was chosen from Fields' personal archive dating from 1975 - 1977. Each picture is accompanied by captions and commentary written by Danny, adding a depth and backstory to each image.
Fields first saw the Ramones play at CBGBs. After meeting with the four founding members, he told them that he wanted to be their manager. “I had to bribe them with $3000 which they said they needed for a new set of drums. I went to Florida, asked my mother to lend me the money, came back with her cheque, and got the job. I photographed the band on tour, backstage, in the studio, walking around, meeting fans, seeing the sights and just checking things out” says Fields.
The limited hardback edition is available from April 27. Two options are available – a standard version of 1000 copies retailing at €50 and a ‘special’ edition of 300 copies which will include a previously unpublished signed and numbered 10”x7.5” print from Fields’ archive retailing at €88, sold exclusively via First Third Books website.
