Rapper Ghetts jailed for 12 years over hit-and-run student death
He had pleaded guilty to causing the death of 20-year-old Yubin Tamang.
UK rapper Ghetts has received a 12 years jail sentence for killing a student in a hit-and-run collision.
The 41-year-old, born Justin Clarke-Samuel, had previously admitted causing the death of 20-year-old Yubin Tamang after failing to stop his BMW in north-east London.
The collision took place on Redbridge Lane East, Ilford, on the evening of October 18, 2025.
Tamang, a university student from Nepal, died in hospital from his injuries two days later, the Metropolitan Police said.
The court heard that Clarke-Samuel then drove dangerously in Worcester Crescent, Redbridge, on the journey back to his home in King's Avenue, Woodford, east London.
Judge Mark Lucraft KC also disqualified the rapper from driving for 17 years, adding that CCTV footage showed a "quite appalling litany of incidents."
Clarke-Samuel had pleaded guilty to causing Tamang's death by dangerous driving, and admitted to additional dangerous driving in Tavistock Place and Camden, Islington and Hackney.
