Quincy Jones' cause of death revealed
The legendary producer had been living with pancreatic cancer for years.
Quincy Jones' cause of death has been revealed, following his passing on November 3 aged 91.
The legendary producer died of pancreatic cancer with no other contributing factor, according to his death certificate released by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and obtained by CNN.
The report also showed that he had been living with the illness privately for years.
A colossal figure in modern music, Jones garnered 28 Grammy Awards, penned over 1,000 original compositions, and recorded thousands of songs over the course of a seven decades long career as a producer, composer and arranger.
Over the years, he worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and more. He was also known for his film scores, including 1967's In The Heat Of The Night and 1969's The Italian Job.
In 2018, Netflix released an award-winning documentary about his life, which was directed by his daughter, Rashida Jones, and Alan Hicks.
His death was confirmed this Sunday, with his family writing in a statement: "Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones' passing.
"And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him."
