Polygon Cities
Some producers have that secret ingredient that means their music stands apart from the increasing volume of records pushed out into the public domain.
Some producers have that secret ingredient that means their music stands apart from the increasing volume of records pushed out into the public domain. German techno duo Monolake have what it takes to distinguish themselves amidst the German electronic music revival. While Monolake are clearly inspired by Basic Channel, they take the dub techno sound a few steps further, avoiding the dance floor and twisting this cavernous, atmospheric sound around subtle, introspective breaks. Occasionally, they deviate from this sound – like on the dark, moody ‘Invisible’ – or on the jacking, 303-tinged ‘Plumbicon’, but it’s hard to avoid the immersive, seductive, white noise whoosh that prevails on Polygon Cities.
