PICNIC IS HERE: Sample Answer On Electric Picnic
Maurice O'Connor chats to Hot Press what to expect from his set, some of his favourite acts playing and his excitement attending EP for the first time.
I'm over in London at the moment, but I'm always excited to come back to Ireland, especially since i am coming back to play at the Picnic. I've never been to EP before, it'll be my first time. Never got to go as a fan or as a performer. This is going to be bangin', everyone says the Picnic is amazing.
There won't be much new material during the set, but there'll be new ways of playing certain songs. I also want to go with what happens, that depends on the vibe of the whole festival, the vibe of the day and the vibe of the crowd. I might pull out a cover of 'Dancing Queen', but that's what i mean though, it depends on the day, I'll go with the flow. Leonard Cohen said "you can prepare as much as you want, but you don't know what is going to happen."
I want to see Nas, i never seen him before and Wolf Alice. There's so many good acts playing man. The energy when Noel Gallagher plays is insane, everyone knows every track, and every Oasis song. It's like a proper intense football match.
Friday, i'll probably pass out and die, and rejuvenate the next day and then go down. It's all about the flow, i am a slave to the the rhythm, as Grace Jones said. I am really looking forward to playing. I want to go and do my thing, and i hope people like it.
Sample Answer plays Rankin's Wood on Sunday 4th September, 14:30 - 15:15
