'Marianne' becomes first Fontaines D.C. single to score two weeks in UK Top 40

Following its release last month, 'Marianne' has become Fontaines D.C.'s first single to score two weeks in the Top 40 of the UK's Official Singles Chart. It marks another important milestone for the band, as they look ahead to a run of major outdoor and stadium shows across the UK in 2027.

Their new track is currently at No.22 on the UK chart, having peaked at No.19 the previous week.

'Marianne' is the lead single from the Irish band's upcoming fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, out October 16 via XL Recordings. Since its release on August 18, the single has clocked up over 9.6 million Spotify streams.

Out of all of their releases, Fontaines' 2024 track 'Favourite' spent the longest on the UK's Singles Chart, at 10 weeks. However, it never cracked into the Top 40 – peaking at No.64.

Before 'Marianne', the band's highest ranking single on the chart was last year's 'It's Amazing To Be Young', which reached No.39, before dropping out of the Top 40 a week later.

Back home in Ireland, 'Marianne' has reached No.4 on the Singles Chart, up from No.5 the previous week.

Fontaines D.C. have also scored a second appearance on the latest UK Singles Chart – with 'Roman Holiday' from their 2022 album Skinty Fia entering at No.100.

As well as performing 'Roman Holiday' at their recent sets at Reading & Leeds, the band brought Kurt Vile onstage for a special collaborative rendition of the track during their performance at La Route du Rock in Saint-Malo last month.

Last week, following their headline set at Electric Picnic, Fontaines D.C. unveiled plans for two Slane Castle gigs on June 26 & 27, 2027. They also announced their biggest UK headline shows to date for summer 2027, including: Cardiff's Blackweir Fields (June 29); Newcastle's St James' Park (July 1); Manchester's Heaton Park (3); Glasgow Green (6); and London Stadium (9).
