Phil Lynott Convention to celebrate 20 years of Harry Street statue with guided tours, sing-songs and top-class tribute acts
20 years after Philomena Lynott and Dublin's Lord Mayor unveiled a unique piece of rock history on Harry Street, the Phil Lynott Convention is set to keep the rocker's legacy alive with a number of exciting Philo and Thin Lizzy-related events
The Phil Lynott Convention will be celebrating 20 years since the unveiling of the Irish rock legend's statue on Harry Street next month.
A number of events will be taking place August 23, highlighting the history behind the everlasting legacy of Lynott and Thin Lizzy.
The day kicks off with an open-air meeting at the statue at 1pm, with the sound of songs and poems expected to fill the surrounding area. Then it's down to the Rock and Roll Museum for a guided tour, which includes a number of Lynott's own personal instruments and items such as his guitars and jukebox.
The Halfpenny Bridge is the place to be at 4pm for a reminisce and sing-song of 'Old Town', before the music kicks off at the nearby Grand Social at 6pm, where three top-class acts will rock the night away.
Since the 90s, Swedish band Philomania have been paying homage to Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy. The group comprises professional musicians from Stockholm, who've spent the last few years playing in front of thousands as the house band at the annual King's Call event in the Swedish captial.

Fresh from the Rory Gallagher Festival in Donegal are Duece, a rip-roaring Rory Gallagher tribute act who've built a reputation for capturing the raw energy, passion and indomitable soul of the Check Shirt Wizard.

Danish/Swedish outfit Falling Hazard are also set to perform. One of the most active Euro tribute bands for Thin Lizzy, they're set to blare songs from each T.L era. Fans can expect hits like 'Cowboy Song', 'The Boys Are Back In Town' and 'Dancing in the Moonlight', as well as deeper cuts like 'Silver Dollar, 'Black Boys On The Corner, 'Soldier Of Fortune' and 'Renegade'. Rumour has it there might even be some unreleased and related songs on display too...

- Tickets for the day start from €29.39 and are available now via eventbrite and ticketmaster. For further information contact [email protected].
