Paul Weller releases new single
The song comes from his 26th album
Paul Weller releases new single, 'Movin On,' today.
The track is taken from his upcoming album, True Meanings. This will be his 14th solo album, but the 26th of his musical career.
'Movin On' is a strummed number laden with strings - guitar, base and violin are all fundamental to the track.
Still, the most impressionable instrument of the song is Weller's voice itself, which is showcased at its best throughout.
Weller sent a "scratchy demo" of the track from his phone to Tom Doyle of the White Label project. The track was co-written by the pair with fellow White Label cohort Anth Brown (who also contributes bass to the track).
"I’m never, ever too proud to give a song over to someone else," Weller says of the collab. "I always want to see what people can add to my ideas. The older you get, and the more stuff you’ve done, the more important that is.”
Weller is also collaborating with Connor O'Brien from Villagers, who cowrote for tracks on True Meanings.
The album will be released on 14 September.
