The film is now guaranteed a full Irish and UK release.
Paramount Pictures International have acquired the rights to Nick Hamm’s Killing Bono, which is based on former Hot Press scribe Neil McCormick’s I Was Bono’s Doppelganger memoir.
“Killing Bono is a well written, funny and highly entertaining film that we think will be very commercial in both the UK and the Republic of Ireland,” enthuses Paramount President Andrew Cripps. “Paramount is very pleased and proud to be part of this exciting project.”
Hot Press’ Olaf Tyaransen was in Belfast recently to report on the shooting of the movie, which features original music by Joe Echo and a re-recording of a track, ‘Street Mission’, which U2 performed when they were still known as The Hype.
A wonderfully evocative tale of lower league rock ‘n’ roll life in the late ‘70s/early ‘80s, its stars include Ben Barnes (Dorian Gray, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Easy Virtue) and Robert Sheehan (Season Of The Witch, Cherrybomb, The Misfits) who respectively play Neil and his brother Ivan.
