Oversteps
Sci fi warp speed electro a go go.
Sounding a bit like the kind of music that people from the future would listen to in a dodgy sci-fi film, Rochdale duo Autechre’s tenth album Oversteps is a challenging piece of work. However, what it lacks in immediacy it more than makes up for in vision as it’s an opus that truly stretches the electro genre to breaking point. Granted, listeners who are already familiar with Autechre’s future sounds will find it easier to absorb Oversteps than a newbie – but either way, if you’re prepared to give it time then there are plenty of rewards to be had.
