Opeth announce Dublin date
Tickets go on sale Thursday (October 16) and can be found below.
Swedish prog-rock group Opeth have announced a show at Dublin's Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, set for August 2, 2026.
The news follows the release of the band's 2024 album The Last Will And Testament, a concept album (set in the 1920s) detailing the reading of a recently deceased man’s will to his surviving family members.
“I have become quite interested in family, and the idea that blood is not always thicker than water,” said frontman and songwriter Mikael Åkerfeldt, "how family members can turn on each other."
"In typical Opeth fashion, it’s not a direct record that you understand and that you love or hate right away," he continued.
"It takes time and if you put that time into it, you might like it… or hate it!"
The record follows 2019's In Cauda Venenum.
Opeth formed in 1990 and are known for blending folk, blues, classical, jazz and death metal elements into their tracks.
The group, more than three decades into their career, have put out 14 studio albums – with their debut album Orchid released in 1995.
- Tickets for Opeth's Dublin gig go on sale Thursday October 16 and can be found here.
