Old Simplicity
Not so mighty power rangers
This writer is all for musicians embracing new technology and departing from the tried and trusted method of three chords and the truth, but when said technology doesn’t actually further their sonic vision then what’s the point? Anglo-Irish duo Ranger3 fall into this trap and their debut album Old Simplicity sees the pair craft electronic music that has very little depth or emotion. ‘It I Were Ready’ and ‘A Step Too Far’ all sound immaculate, but there is very little soul to the release and it seems like they are merely hiding behind their keyboards instead of using the instruments to score their songs.
Key Track: 'Scene Of Distraction'
