No Church In The Wild
You know what to expect from a Watch The Thrones track by now; dense, expensive-sounding production, clever use of a sensational guest star (in this case, OFWGKTA vocalist Frank Ocean), and a brief discussion of the Euthyphro dilemma, obviously. Spurred on by the somewhat bewildering use of the ‘No Church In The Wild’ in the trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s dramatisation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby 3D (not convinced that they were big fans of throbbing bass beats on Long Island’s West Egg in the ‘20s...), the track is the sixth single to be taken from Jay and Ye’s million-selling collaborative LP, and, even apart from proving that Mr. Knowles is capable of connecting Rolls-Royces to Socrates in five lines or less, it’s a damn fine piece of egomaniacal pop.
