Galway alternative trio NewDad have announced their sophomore record Altar, out September 19 via Atlantic Records.
Altar will be the follow-up to their 2024 debut Madra, which Hot Press rated 9 out of 10 upon its release.
The first track from Altar is 'Roobosh', released today as a single alongside a one-shot music video. Frontwoman Julie Dawson described 'Roobosh' as her opportunity to freely express her anger.
"'Roobosh' is just about being fed up. I wanted to write one song for the album that allowed me to shout, to get out all my frustration," Dawson said.
"Women get angry and we are expected to contain our rage but on this song I just allowed myself to go there. I wanted a song where I could moan and scream because we all need to do that every once in a while. And honestly it was just a bit of fun, letting myself get angry when I never allow myself to."
Following the band's global tour for Madra and appearances supporting artists like Pixies, The War on Drugs and Fontaines D.C., NewDad is set to tour Altar across Europe.
The Altar tour will include four Irish shows: Dublin on October 31, Cork on November 1, Galway on November 2 and Belfast on November 4. Tickets are on sale now.
