New Music Dublin festival announces their 2025 return, featuring Thurston Moore and more
Moore will appear in the performance Guitar Explorations of Cloud Formations on Saturday.
New Music Dublin festival has announced their 2025 return to the National Concert Hall and venues across Dublin from April 2-6.
Other acts on the lineup include Caimin Gilmore, the National Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Choir Ireland. Twenty-five events will be be featured across the festival dates.
“With explorations of Javanese Gamelan alongside Uilleann Pipes, new music for the cosmos at Dunsink Observatory, sonic sculptures, free improvisation in complete darkness in a disused fridge, and compositions shaped by environmental recordings, this festival resists any attempt at easy categorisation,” said Festival Director John Harris. “It is, as always, a testament to the sheer creative aliveness of new music in Ireland.”
Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth will perform in Guitar Explorations of Cloud Formations, a one-off debut playing alongside guitarists Alex Ward and Jennifer Chochinov with percussion by Jeremy Doulton. The festival will also include sound and visual installations, such as Jonathan Nangle’s Blue Haze of Deep Time and Laura Sheeran’s film Postcards.
