The Cinemagic World Screen Festival for Young People takes place in Belfast this week, bringing with it some respected music industry heads.
Starting Thursday, June 22, the festival will feature events educating young people between the ages of 10 and 25 about the music business.
There will be two days of classes providing an inside perspective to different areas of the music industry.
Special guest teachers include Alan McGee (Creation Records and Poptones supremo), Eric Bell (founding member of Thin Lizzy), Andy Cairns (Therapy?), Damian Machella (Ocean Colour Scene, The Who) and Kevin Godley (music video producer whose credits include promos for U2, Bryan Adams, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra), among others.
Additionally, well-known producer Chris Cowey (Top of the Pops, Soapstar Superstar) will do a School Of Rock, and pick five young people to turn into the Cinemagic Band. He will then guide them through styling and rehearsing so the group can perform at the festival's final concert on Saturday - 24 hours later - before an audience of 5,000 at Custom House Square.
Cowey knows it's a daunting task for a group of kids, saying: "I'll probably be walking around backstage looking really scared for them but it's not half as brave as the souls who actually go out onto the stage are going to have to be."
