Moore’s melodies
A new televison series looks like being a real treat for fans of Christy Moore
He may be gone from the stage but, happily, not from the screen.
On October 14, RTE will broadcast the first episode of
a six-part series Christy Moore Uncovered, in which the
bard of Ireland is joined by his “ultimate band” –
Donal Lunny and Declan Sinnott – and a number of
very special guests, for a must-see helping of song and story.
The first programme includes an appearance by songwriter extraordinaire Jimmy MacCarthy, who explains the inspiration for his classic ‘Bright Blue Rose’ before performing the song with Christy.
Other guests who will perform with Christy during the series include Sinead O’ Connor (‘Sweet Thames Flow Softly’), Shane MacGowan (‘A Pair Of Brown Eyes’), Johnny Duhan (‘Voyage’) and, back from Spain for the occasion, Barney Rushe (‘Nancy Spain’).
Shot in homely, intimate surroundings, and full of candid moments as well as great performances, Christy Moore Uncovered offers a revealing insight into the life and music of one of Ireland’s best-loved entertainers.
