Mixed Reactions to Katy Perry’s New Music Video With Nicki Minaj
If you’re not a thirteen year old meme queen you might want to sit this one out.
'Swish Swish’ is the latest track from Perry’s fifth album ‘Witness’. Loosely themed on a basketball game, the video features Katy “Kobe” Perry (no seriously she calls herself that) and her team ‘The Tigers’ squaring off against Game of Thrones star The Mountain a.k.a Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and a team brimming with familiar celebrity faces called “The Sheep”.
It doesn't take long for the game to descend into chaos, as confusing slapstick and a malaise of meme references quickly leave you perplexed as your thumb hovers over the home button.
However, just as you've had enough, the saviour Nicki Minaj appears in a cinematic sparkle as the performer of a half time show. She delivers a tidy, catchy rap sequence and a dash of class to an otherwise sad attempt to appeal to the snapchat generation. Her brief cameo leaves you feeling like if the spotlight was more focused on her, it could have been a pop anthem the Queens based rapper would have owned.
Twitter -as always- had a lot to say:

Yet some people were more supportive of KP:
