Miley Cyrus pays tribute to her godmother Dolly Parton
“We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things,” she wrote on Instagram.
Miley Cyrus has paid homage to her godmother Dolly Parton with a statement posted to Instagram, following the passing of the 'Queen of Country Music' earlier this week.
“The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share,” Cyrus wrote. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts.
She said that Parton would want her to “feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis.
“I will always love her and want to make her proud,” Cyrus continued. “My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things.”
According to her publicist, Marcel Pariseau, Dolly died after a "brief battle with cancer".
"Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones," his statement reads.
Cyrus is one of the many artists that have paid tribute to the legendary musician, joining a list that includes Paul McCartney, Jane Fonda, Sabrina Carpenter, Jack White, Bono and many more.
