Michael Kiwanuka unveils fourth album Small Changes — shares 'Lowdown' (part i) & (part ii)
The 'Cold Little Heart' singer reunites with lauded producers Danger Mouse and Inflo on the follow-up to their Mercury Prize winning KIWANUKA in 2019.
Michael Kiwanuka today announced his upcoming studio album Small Changes, which arrives on 15th November via Polydor Records.
The forthcoming LP marks the singer's fourth studio offering, following his eponymous third album, KIWANUKA, which won the Mercury Prize and received a GRAMMY nomination in 2019.
Recorded between London and Los Angeles, Small Changes was produced alongside Danger Mouse and Inflo, the same team behind Kiwanuka's third album and its equally as acclaimed predecessor, Love & Hate.
Coinciding with the LP announcement, the English crooner has released two singles, 'Lowdown (part i)' and 'Lowdown (part ii)'. They follow Kiwanuka's returning single 'Floating Parade' in July.
The core trio made up of Kiwanuka and his trusty co-producers expanded into a wish-list ensemble that featured legendary bassist Pino Palladino (D’Angelo, John Mayer, Beyoncé) and Jimmy Jam of the iconic Jam and Lewis songwriting and production duo (Janet Jackson, Prince, SOS Band).
Whereas 'Lowdown (part i)' is a low-slung, bass-heavy, guitar-soul number, 'Lowdown (part ii)' reverberates on that atmospheric, string-soaked psychedelia and extended guitar soloing that the singer's become almost synonymous with across his past two records.
Small Changes is available to pre-order here.
