Metronomy - Love Letters
This fortnight, the English dance-rock pioneers announce their comeback in fine fashion with the frankly astonishing new single ‘Love Letters’. From their just released fourth record (also called Love Letters), the single is a trippy track which sounds like some Pearly Kings and Queens jamming on a few Kinks songs down their local “rub-a-dub”. It could very well be the Joseph Mount-fronted band’s best work to date. Warbling pianos, trumpet solos and a chorus that takes its cues from the musical Hair are the order of the day; the tune is a must-listen for fans of top cerebral pop.
