Memoirs of an imperfect angel
Frosty return from big-lunged ur-diva
The insanely talented Mariah Carey’s twelfth album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel (that’s right, not content with talking to the ghost of Marilyn Monroe, she now thinks she’s got big fluffy wings) is a bit over the top: the release even includes an “exclusive Elle magazine” booklet devoted to the diva. The actual songs are a predictable mix of ballads and break-up anthems that, for the most part, are as cold as a witch’s nether regions. Her vocals are as extraordinary as ever, but the lack of warmth throughout is the killer. A disappointment even for fans, I’ll wager.
