Massive Attack

This is just something that came out of nowhere when I was working in Sir Henry’s in Cork: it captured a moment.

The video really complements the track, and is all done in one shot. Besides Shara Nelson, the band have very little to do in it – and, at the time, you couldn’t tell from the video who was in the band. Again, it looks simple but there’s lots going on.

Nearly all the Massive Attack videos stand out from the crowd: ‘Protection’, ‘Angel’, ‘Safe From Harm’… I could go on all day. In fact, the DVD collection of their videos is really worth buying if you’re into film or video. Michael Gondry, the French videomaker, features heavily. It’s like a master class in doing it right.
