Mary Stokes Band announces Women in Blues show at Howth Blues and Roots

The Mary Stokes Band have announced a Women in Blues performance for the Howth Roots and Blues festival.
The group will be joined by The Grainne Duffy Band and The Bree Harris Band.
Lead by singer Mary Stokes and harmonica player Brian Palm, The Mary Stokes band has been a renowned force in the Irish blues scene for over 25 years. They have performed with artists such as John Lee Hooker, BB King, Bo Diddley, Fats Domino, and Taj Mahal.
Stokes has performed at the Roots and Blues festival every year.
Elsewhere, Grainne Duffy won Best Vocalist and Best Solo Artist at the Blues Matters Writers Poll Awards in 2014 and 2015. Additionally, she was the winner of Best Modern Roots Artist at the Independent Blues Awards' in 2021.
In June 2023 the artist's album Dirt Woman Blues was nominated for the best Rock Blues Album at the Blues Blast Music Awards.
Stokes and Palm made a recent appearance with The Grainne Duffy band at the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival.
Moreover, Bree Harris is known to play a wide variety of genres including blues, rock, folk and soul. In addition to her own music, she is known for her renditions of Tony Joe White, Leonard Cohen, Bonnie Raitt, John Prine and Bob Dylan.
The singer has performed with Stokes on numerous occasions and is featured on Stokes' most recent album Hometown Blues.
Women in Blues is set for Sunday, August 10 at 4 p.m. at the Summit Inn.
