Mary Black announces new Dublin show at National Stadium
The singer announced an additional date for her nearly sold out farewell tour
Mary Black has announced an additional Dublin date on her Slán tour, May 26 at the National Stadium.
The Slán tour, first announced in September, is the final tour of Black’s over 50-year musical career, with dates all across Ireland (and one in The Netherlands).
Black has made a name for herself as one of the most versatile voices in music, and has performed and recorded alongside artists such as Joan Baez, Van Morrison, and Emmylou Harris.
“I started in folk music,” Black says on her website, “but never felt there should be any boundaries in music. Fortunately, here in Ireland there's an openness about music that allows you to step outside the categories."
Black is known around the world for her voice, to such an extent that the British magazine What Hi-Fi? has repeatedly used Black’s voice to test the sound quality of different high fidelity systems.
Black’s Slán tour shows that the artist’s incredible career has generated enduring support from fans.
"I’m totally overwhelmed at the response to my Slán Tour, which is virtually sold out,” said Black. “However, since so many people have been in touch to say they were disappointed not to be able to get tickets, we’ve added one more date in the middle of the tour on May 26th in the Stadium in Dublin. It’ll be great to get back to the Stadium after all these years - happy memories of singing there back in the day. Thanks to you all for your amazing support. Hope to see you along the road."
Tickets for the new show will go live Friday, January 30.
