MARINA drops new track 'Purge the Poison', announces new LP Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land
The guitar-driven track is about the work that must be done to heal the planet - and ourselves in the process.
Greek-Welsh pop star MARINA (formerly Marina & The Diamonds) has announced her fifth studio album, Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, sharing the first track 'Purge the Poison' with her fans.
'Purge the Poison' marks MARINA's first new single of 2021, following last year's 'Man's World'.
Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land is the follow up to MARINA's 2019 album LOVE + FEAR.
The singer-songwriter's new single is an Earth Day anthem of sorts, with MARINA singing about the challenges of "protecting the planet" and "healing our own damage". She also references historic pop culture moments from Britney Spears, Harvey Weinstein and the #MeToo movement in the track.
"It’s a new world order, everything just falls away/ Our life as we knew it now belongs to yesterday/ Inside all the love and hate we can now regenerate/It's all that we believe in every single day," she sings, suggesting that the pandemic is an opportunity to change our poisonous ways.
